Firmware download procedure


0. Download theFlash Download Tools.


1. Open the Flash Download Tools file.



2. Select the chip type: ESP32-S3.



3.Set SPI SPEED: 80MHz, SPI MODE: QIO, and ensure DoNotChgBin is checked.



4.Put your device in programming mode.

1.- Connect the board to the PC via the USB port.
2.- Turn on the switch.
3.- Press and hold the BOOT button.
4.- Press and release the RESET button
5.- Release the BOOT button

5. Select the port from the list of available COM ports:



6. Select the local binary firmware file in flash memory and set the address to 0.



7. Press ERASE to erase the flash memory.

Warning: Erasing the flash memory will delete all data on the board.

8.Press START to upload the firmware to flash memory

Warning: It can be helpful to copy and save the information from the log window. STA is the hardware ID used by ELIO PLAY to identify your board.



9. Restart to execute the firmware.


Once the board has been successfully updated, you can close the Flash Download Tools program and start the firmware by resetting the board:


  • Press and release the RST button.

The ELIO PLAY firmware will run a predefined JSON application contained within the ELIO PLAY firmware.


  • Press and release the RST button.

The ELIO PLAY firmware will run a predefined JSON application contained within the ELIO PLAY firmware.


  • The first GREEN LED indicates that the board has been started correctl
  • The second BLUE LED indicates that the board is not connected to the Internet.

At this point, your ELIO board needs information to connect to your local network and your ELIO PLAY account.
